Buying Used Strollers, Car Seats and High Chairs

Argington Babylon High Chair

When reviewing baby furniture, it’s rare to come across something that really puts the design in designer. The Argington Bablyon toddler high chair certainly does that.

According to Argington this high chair was inspired by the gardens of Babylon, this all wood chair is certainly different. It’s not suitable for babies less than 12 months, but it does support up to 250 lbs, so you might find your children using this all through school and beyond. At around $200 it’s not cheap, but since you will get that kind of longevity, it might be worth considering.

Features

2 out of 5 points

This chair is designed for older babies and toddlers and upwards, so if you want to use it with a feeding tray and even a chair pad, you need to buy them separately - which pushes the already pricey purchase up more. The cushion is washable though, and the chair does come with a three point safety harness – again, suitable only for older children who can sit on their own.

Assembly and Setup

3 out of 5 points

The chair is easy to assemble, but strangely enough, no instructions come with it. If you’re less than technically minded, that means getting on the phone and calling the company, although they do oblige with an email version pretty quickly.
Once set up, all adjustments are easy to achieve without tools, so no hassles there.

Adjustability

3.5 out of 5 points
The Argington Bablyon is adjustable to nine height positions, ranging from coffee table height to counter top, so it is versatile - however, the higher settings do result in a less than firm footing, and a wriggling toddler could easily tip the chair, and themselves, over. If you have a young child, and you buy this chair, rather avoid the higher settings.

Ease of Cleaning

5 out of 5 points

Being all of Baltic Birch wood, in five different finishes, each of which features a high gloss top coat, means this chair wipes clean without a fuss. The option extra chair pad is removable, and cotton, so it’s completely washable, making that no problem in the clean up stakes.

Look and Style

4 out of 5 points

As a toddler chair, this is a great option – it’ll blend in with most décor schemes, it’s easy to clean (important with young kids) and will see them from babyhood to their teens if you’d like. The Argington Bablyon’s simple, clean design is appealing, but its base just seems a little too wobbly at higher settings.
If you’re looking for something that will last, and won’t clash with your kitchen, for an older child, this is a good choice. If you want something baby friendly, this might not be your best choice.
