Clean lines, contempory styling, and a design that folds flat combine to make a great looking high chair. Bloom’s Nano would look very much at home in even the most stylish of homes, although, at around $180, it’s pared down styling may mean you’re paying for looks more than functionality. With the tray and footrest removed, it would make a stylish addition to your child’s room, so you will probably get a lot of use out of it.
Features
3 out of 5 points
For a stripped down, modern, lightweight fold up high chair, the Nano has a surprising number of features. The chair boasts a five point safety harness, with straps that adjust, so that they can accommodate bigger babies too, as well as a large dishwasher safe tray that removes completely for feeding at the table when your child is older.
The tray also adjusts to three positions, so it’s ideal for growing babies, and the seat being upholstered in leatherette means it’s easy to clean, and looks good. It is a roomy design, but it does angle slightly backwards, so baby won’t sit up completely straight.
Assembly and Setup
4 out of 5 points
Maybe it’s because it’s so simple, but the Nano is easy to assemble, although a little elbow grease is required. Once it’s put together, it’s really easy to fold up and stow in a closet, or take with you in the car, and weighing only twelve pounds, and being a folding model, you might choose to do just that.
Adjustability
2 out of 5 points
Not much in the way of adjustability here – although the chair does score points for it’s adjustable straps and feeding tray. It’s not suitable for really little babies, as there’s no recline feature, and the height is fixed, but it is at least the right height for most tables, so when your child begins eating at the big table, there shouldn’t be a problem.
The footrest also adjusts to two positions, so it does accommodate growing babies and toddlers.
Ease of Cleaning
3 out of 5 points
The Bloom Nano’s leatherette seat wipes clean easily, and the tray goes in the dishwasher, and since there aren’t any major grooves or crevices on either, there isn’t likely to be a huge buildup of dirt, but the seat does not come off for washing, so you will need to be careful to avoid major messes. The tray is also quite large, so most of the mess should stay on it, rather than the chair, baby and the floor.
Look and Style
5 out of 5 points
This is a very nice, simple, clean design, that looks about as little like baby furniture as it’s possible to get, while still being baby furniture. The Nano’s stylish design, in one of the plain but funky colors available would not look out of place in a modern loft apartment, and if style is important to you, this one is a good choice.
As far as stability goes, the Bloom Nano is nice and robust, which is reassuring when considering wriggly babies, and the brushed steel frame is certainly up to the challenge.
